Still same.

here-

Is there anything else I should try?

Thanks in advance!

I tried to "echo all commands" during texture baking. All the artifacts happens at the end of render during these lines:

ilrProgressBegin("Bilinear Filter");
ilrProgressEnd;
ilrProgressBegin("Bilinear Filter");
ilrSetProgress("Bilinear Filter", 0);
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrSetProgress("Bilinear Filter", 15);
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrSetProgress("Bilinear Filter", 43);
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrSetProgress("Bilinear Filter", 55);
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrSetProgress("Bilinear Filter", 92);
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrSetProgress("Bilinear Filter", 99);
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrProgressIsCancelled;
// Result: 0 //
ilrProgressEnd;

I am complete noob when it comes to scripting, but isnt it possible that it still uses bilinear filtering even though I uncheck it in turtle/texture bake settings?

found this article:

https://www.regnareb.com/pro/2015/03/turtle-artefacts/

"The weird thing is that if you deactivate the bilinear filter in the Texture Bake Settings it works but not if you launch the bake through the command line. It’s like the bilinear filter setting is never taken into account no matter what."

I run this bake by using Texture resampling editor:

with these settings

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! 🙂 I checked out our database and found that this is an issue that our internal team is looking into and working on right now (thank you for posting the pictures! Very helpful!). Once comment as to a workaround for this behaviour is as follows:

To Fix the issue
Turtle has edge dilation option to extend the border pixel color. It’s very similar to the bilinear filter.
edgedilationfilter.cpp is doing the same thing to bilinear, it creates m_out and m_outZ as the output of the source image. But it doesn’t fill out all of the pixels but set pixel color during an iteration of each pixel.

I put the same type of code in BilinearFilter::processBilinear and it seems working correctly.

As a current workaround, Set UV range to divide 4K image into four 2K images. Render as 2K and combine them in Photoshop or something else to get 4K single image.

I will link this forum post to the internal log we have to ensure that your input is tracked with us 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to report this issue, and for being a part of our Community!
