topic Unable to Open Files - FBX, OBJ, MA, etc. Plugin Manager in Maya LT Forum https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-lt-forum/unable-to-open-files-fbx-obj-ma-etc-plugin-manager/m-p/5717817#M3493 So I just bought and installed Maya LT 2016. I tried opening one of my OBJ files and nothing happens; same issue occurs with FBX and all other supported formats.
