I use Maya LT and for some reason the MLT file format will not upload. So I'm trying a .Zip file this time. Whenever I try and move the hands of the costume, not the character mind you, the texture moves. I simply want to know how to lock the texture down for everything.

I have an issue where I'm using a HumanIK system for a model but there are a few parts in which Human IK can't connect to it and it still work, so certain area's are using not HumanIK connected joint systems. My issue is that the texture I'm using for the body moves whenever the body does, but not in the way it's meant to. How can I lock the texture map down so the UV's stop moving and the body maintains the coloring it's meant to have as I move it?

Are you potentially using a projected texture instead of a UV set for the texture that is moving?

Maybe you can attach or send me the file and I can have a look into the scene?

Or you can create a Screencast using the Autodesk Screencast software from here:

Hello @Angellusravenix

I am opening your file in Maya LT 2017 on my workstation and having huge issues working with your scene.

Maya is freezing on basically every command.

For moving the hand, I have to select the "Character1_Ctrl_LeftWristEffector"? When selecting this, I am still not able to move the hand.

What should I do exactly?

When selecting the characters mesh, I can see a ton of poly tweaks and in between there are many planar projection nodes.

So the performance drop is coming from the big hierarchy. And the texture move is potentially related to the planar projections.

Can you delete the big hierarchy of the model? Edit > Delete All by type > History

I can also see two Bindpose nodes on one object. Maybe two same nodes are messing it up as well?

I hope that is helpful?

Awaiting your reply

Regards,

So, 2 issues. If I delete the History overall, it refuses to rebind to the skeleton. If I delete all non-deformer history, it completely deletes the map alignment I had set up, but when I move any joint, it stays still. Is there a way I am unaware of to import or lock the original map I created back into it, or am I just going to have to remap it again and hope everything stays in place from there? And I'm not finding the second bind node. Is it located somewhere other than the Hypergraph?

Hello @Angellusravenix

when I am deleting all by type history, then the hierarchy of the object is flat again and the performance is perfect.

Also all UVs are still in place.

See here my screenshot.

Normally before binding an object to any joint, you need to delete the history and then you can do the joint binding.

I was able to figure out a solution combining your suggestions with a few other idea's. When I deleted history, it detached from the skeleton. So I needed to reattach it. After I unlocked my Skeleton definition, I was able to reattach the model to the rig, granted after readjusting the skeleton a bit. Then came the need to redo the weights. Fortunately I exported a weight map beforehand and was able to reattach it. After all of that, it all worked out and has no current issues. Even the non-HumanIK controlled skeleton functions properly. But I was curious why there isn't any way to create "add-on" HIK controls? Or if there is a way, how to do so. But I've gotten it into a form I can use and animate, so I'm good at this point. I greatly appreciate your assistance with my situation.

History on model causes moving image maps on model when moved solution:

1) Export weights map from model if weights are attached.

2) Delete History from model.

3) Unlock skeleton definition from HumanIK system.

4) Readjust skeleton to fit model if need be.

5) Reattach skeleton.

6) Adjust model definition back to green check.

7) Recreate HumanIK controls

8) Re-import weight map onto model.

Oh, sorry for the late reply. I mean be able to add additional controls for things like wings, clothing, extra appendages or a persons chest. I know you can create IK's seperately, but everytime I've used them since HumanIK was introduced they don't seem to work the same. I may just need to experiment a bit more. But assuming you respond to this, how can I switch to Maya full for a month and then return to Maya LT?
