Forum does not like the .mlt file I tried to upload.

Exported the FBX from 21017 into 2018, skin is not attached to mesh and no bones, but Ik control points show animation when scrubbing.

What I don't see in the crashing.mlt is any keys in the timeline.

no idea how to export the FXB with bones and animation attacked to mesh.

Using Windows 10.

Went back to a Scene version just before quick rigging and did it again.

IK rig working fine and scrub works.

Will use this version going forward.

Have to redo the rig properly anyway, adding the SK_Mannequin's ik_hand_gun bone to the rig along with a ik_hand_gun_l bone.

try the following :

go to My document > Maya > and rename the folder 2018LT

restart your LT , this time make sure to choose > create default preferance rather than copy old

see if this helps ?

Nope.

Does not matter though, only my first attempts at control rigs and animations using the SK_Mannequin.

Have to redo everything properly anyway.

Reloaded the Epic character FXB into 2018, created a new control rig.

As soon as I create the second key frame and try to scrub 2018 crashes.

Even without moving any controls, adding a second key frame and scrubbing causes a crash.

Created a new biped and used quick rig to create controls.

No crashing when animating this character.

Maybe its the validation error, than complains that the arms were not parallel to the x axis.

just going back to 2017.

Stripped the Epic SK_Mannequin.fbx of its bones and created a new rig.

Seems to be something about the way I'am adding a root bone from 0,0,0 to the hip bone that is causing the error.

Without that root bone I get no error when animating.

Will create a skeleton by hand next with a root bone.

watched a few tutorials on moving the root to the origin and creating rigs.

All seems to have gone well, have a root that sticks to the ground and no crashing.
