Trouble Exporting Specific Files to OBJ

Hi,

I'm still extremely new to Maya and trying to learn how to use it, but came across a weird issue when trying to export certain files to OBJ. I'm working with some other people's .ma and .mb files and was trying to export some of them to .obj format, but only some of them were successful. Does anyone have any idea as to why only some would work and others wouldn't? The ones that aren't working just create an 89 byte sized file.

There's no information at all about these obj files of yours.Usually when working with other people we use FBX.

Sorry, I would post one of the files but they're confidential which I understand makes it basically impossible to get help so I was hoping there was some common mistake most people make like it's a reference object or something. I think it has to do with the object type. What does the blue paper looking icon mean? I've attached a screengrab.

Hi!

OBJ only supports polygon objects.

These blue icons are used for NURBS.

NURBS need to be converted to polygons before you can export them to OBJ.
