topic Import/export Workflows in Maya Forum https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-forum/import-export-workflows/m-p/5490266#M72674 Hi, I'm interested in understand how Models and Textures are Import/exported from one application to another. I have been a hobbyist of CG for a little over 4 months and learning from tutorials at home. I'm getting to a stage where I am interested in several applications and using them all to render or create a composition. I have been using Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, ect.. by purchasing applications and signing up for trials. Where I need guidance is understanding the process of taking my model from one application to the next without losing any information. I'm sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology to explain what I'm after. I will try and make an example of what I'm talking about. If I model in Maya and then export it with a obj and import that obj into zbrush and sculpt fine detail then want to take it back to maya for retopo I will have to "create a displacement map" for the detailed sculpt and apply it to the retopo'd model. I understand this step, but I'm unfamiliar with the use of UV coordinates and transferring them from on platform to another. I hope this make sense and explains what I'm looking for. So, I'm looking for a detail list of all the names of the process in a workflow from start to finish when using many applications to create a composition or final render. I'm not asking for a explanation to how it's done just the name of the process I need to transfer UV's, textures, details, ect.. on my model to different applications. Once I know the name of the process I can look it up and learn how it's done. Thank you so much for your time and I will truly be thankful to anyone who can help me with the terminology and processes needed to import/export between application and platforms.
