Actually, that is the better solution...but if you're curious as to how to get the Magic Mouse to work:

Go into your Mac System Preferences and enable secondary click...then for middle mouse button:

Check out the free utility here: http://magicprefs.com/

Again, I still recommend you stick with the Logitach...much less hassle. I bought a Magic Mouse once, and sold it after a few days to a friend.

Mac single button mouse

I am completely new to Maya and have just started working on some tutorials, where I have encountered problems with the shortcut keys. I am on a Mac, with a one button mouse and when the tutorial explains camera movements, it says to hold the ALT (I held the Option key down here - the Mac alternative to the PC ALT) key down and by pressing the left mouse key down (I press "the" mouse button down, as there is only one button on my apple mouse), the camera will then orbit around the objects. This worked for me, but the next step told me to first hold the ALT key down again and then press the middle mouse button to move the camera from side to side. The following command uses a combination of the ALT key and the right mouse button to bring the camera closer or farther from the objects. So ... what do I do alternatively to access the last two commands (requiring a middle and right mouse button) which I do not have? Please help ASAP, so I can move forward with the tutorials. Thanks.

Yes it is. I’ve actually just plugged in a Logitech (PC compatible) mouse to be able to access right, left and middle mouse buttons. Is there a better solution?

Cool ... thank you very much. I had gone into my system preferences for the right click button, but hadn't found a solution for the middle button. I still love my mac and its mouse ... just not for Maya. lol 😉
