As a local community college instructor who teaches Maya I can't honestly say there is not a Maya book out there that I could recommend. I've used just about every one, or I've tried. In general the "Introducing ..." series is ok but I've found in every version there are some serious errors in the detailed instructions on how to accomplish the projects. If you already know something about 3D and Maya, then for general reference the "Mastering ..." series is good for that purpose. Both have quite a few errors at the detail level on their projects, which, as an instructor, has caused me grief as my students follow the instructions to the letter, only to be led down the wrong path. I suppose I could start to keep an eratta but that's not my job. I've gone to general notes I prepare for class and tutorials I've specifically made for topics in class that I've posted on my YouTube channel. (https://www.youtube.com/user/ThePhilFXChannel) IMHO your money is far better spent on a subscriptions to Digital Tutors (now Pluralsight) or Lynda.com. These sites will keep up with the new versions and cover a broader range of topics. If you can't afford the paid tutorials there are a slew of free tutorials on YouTube and Vimeo.

Thanks teach 🙂 ..and everyone else!
