yeah, you can work on your model through your commercial version.

Hey,

Hope someone can clear something up for me. I have been working on a non commurcial 3D model in Maya on a Student Version the past few weeks, and it's not finished. I recently upgraded to the Full License of Maya for commurcial work. However, this model is for my OWN personal use, and just something to put on my showreel. Can I still work on this model using the Full License of Maya?

Thank you.

In a few years you may have cause to do something professional with models, etc. from your portfolio, and after that time it can be difficult to remember which parts were EDU content and which were not. While you don't have to deal with the old EDU flags/watermarks its still a good idea to gradually replace the old EDU content with commercial content just in case one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities comes up.

Hi I-Human

As we spoke over the phone, the original maya files .mb can be resaved as .ma files and opened via a text editor. once opened in ascii format you can search for the line of code that says "student" delete the whole line. Re-save the file as a .ma and re-open, then the dialogue mentioning the Maya Student version will dissapear once re-opened via your commercial version.

Cheers
