Hide a Hidden Object

As redundant as that subject line is, that is exactly what I need. Is there a way to hide an already hidden object in the Outliner, so I can't see it? For reasons I won't go into, I need some hidden bones in my rig, but they get in the way whilst animating (no curves on my rig, I animate on the bones from the Outliner). Especially when I need to select a big group of bones at once. They just need to be there, but I don't ever need to see them or interact with them. Can this be done? Slightly less opaque names just doesn't cut it. I would use groups, but I frequently shift + open my hierarchies to view the entire tree, plus groups would still clutter up my Outliner. Thanks

If you right-click on them in the outliner, you can select Hide in Outliner->Hide. If you ever need them back, click Displey->Ignore "Hidden in Outliner."

Uh... I don't see this option? I should say I'm using Maya 2014, so that may be the problem. Is there another way to get this option? Thanks

Yeah...that is the problem. That feature was introduced in Maya 2015. Sorry!

****... 2014 is pretty firmly established as the industry standard, and probably will be for a long while yet. Plus our experiences with 2015 in the past have been... unsatisfactory - so we stick with 2014. I don't suppose anybody knows of any script/plugin out there to solve this issue?
