Maya 2017, 2016.5 crash when load

I formatted my computer and now when I try to launch Maya it immediately crashes. I installed both 2016.5 and 2017. I entered my serial numbers. When I open Maya I see the splash screen then it crashes and sends an error report. The last error report is CER_134088842. I'm using a macbook pro.

I loaded Maya 2017 clean on a late-2015 MacBook Pro, 10.11.6 (El Capitan), and it worked fine for about a week. But today it started crashing on start-up. I tried trading the preferences and restarting the computer, but no luck.

Figured out my problem. I had a second monitor connected by USB. An Asus MB168B+ travel monitor. Something about it connecting via USB caused Maya to crash. Unplugging it fixed the problem. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. That give me a hint. I had been using a second monitor, and it was when going back to just the laptop display that the crashes were happening. So re-connected the second monitor, and at least it works with that one. Certainly it should work either way, but at least I now have a good idea where to look and also I can get my project going with the additional monitor.

My second monitor is connected via the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay port using Apple's Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter.
