topic Camera Rotation in Maya Forum

So, I'm trying to control my camera. What I'd LIKE it to do is orbit my selection.

What it decides to do is either rotate with the pivot evidently at the center of the camera, or even more fun, rotates with the pivot at some arbitrary far away from my selection, causing the camera to zoom away when I try to rotate to see the back of my object or whatever.

The closest I can find is Tumble Tool which seems to have the same icon as when I hold alt and left click-drag

"Center of Interest" is apparently nothing I'd seemingly be interested in, like the selected object at hand.

Checking "Tumble on Object" does... not do the job either. Nothing appears to change in camera behavior. The same seems to be the case with Tumble Pivot. Nothing I change in this menu seems to affect how my camera is behaving. It SEEMS to be the right options menu though, since unchecking Locked under "Orthographic Views" allows me to rotate the camera in side view for example.

With your perspective view active, I recommend clicking View->Predefined Bookmarks->Perspective. That will get the camera back to its original behavior (which I think is what you're after.)

IF YOU WANT CAMERA TO ROTATE AROUND YOUR SELECTION, THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO.
