&lt;P&gt;You can't. Don't work in Maya 2016 if you need to open the scene later in Maya 2011, you only run into trouble.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;My advice: Do your work in Maya 2011 or Maya 2016, but don't use both.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;The only thing you can try is saving the file as a .obj, but I'm afraid your rig won't make it and you'll have chances of the older version of Maya not opening things right with the mesh. If it's simple basic geometry I've used obj files like this. But as the other said, use one or the other.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
