Hi!

Change Mode/View from "Standard" to "Polygon".

But i recommend not to use Maya Subdivision surface anymore (no further development since years), use smooth Mesh (Preview) instead.

Hey everyone! I'll cut right to the chase. Im coming from an older version of Maya to 2017. Im also a novice in general with Maya. I'm trying to select a vertex after converting a polygon to subdiv. However every time i try to select a vertices it returns to object mode. How can i select a vertices after subdiv?

As mspeer said Change Mode/View from "Standard" to "Polygon", or change viewport renderer from VP 2.0 to Legacy Default Viewport.

But subdiv is not a good choice.
