Maya 2017 Update 3 problem

Hi all,

I am running Maya 2017 student license on Windows 64 bit operating system. And it was working great and I was having alot of fun with it until recently when I installed the update 3. I used the Autodesk Desktop App and installed the update through there. Now maya takes forever to open and when I hit the File tab it slowly appears and if I hit something from the drop down menu say the Set Project button, the pop up window opens but all of Maya freezes and stops responding, and I can't set my project. I tried uninstalling maya and reinstalling it, and that worked but then I installed the update 3 again and it stopped working again. Any help would be much appreciated, let me know if you need anymore details.
