Specs:

GPU: 980 ti 6gb sc+

CPU: i7-6700k

mobo: Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero

RAM: 32 GB G Skill Trident Z ddr4 3200mhz

SSD: Samsung 950 Pro Series 512 GB

HDD: WD Black 3TB

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Maya was installed on the ssd, I use it often. I did try repairing it as well as subsequently reinstalling it. Although I am worried that it may not have been completely uninstalled during that process. Although I took all of the steps of uninstalling before reinstalling it, it looked like there were still some residual files. After reinstalling it is still doing the same thing. I've tried resetting preferences to defaults and clearing caches. My teacher said maybe a plug-in wasn't working properly or wasn't enabled? He said to check and make sure autolog was turned on, I didn't see it though.

P.S. in the file attached, the top left window works fine. The bottom left stays exactly like that, and the two on the right are confined to working in just those little spaces that are shown in the corners.

I opened Maya today to work on a project and when I tried maximizing the perspective panel, everything outside of the previously displayed area turn black. This also happens if I change the panel size at all (in software, or the window itself). I tried repairing it and it didn't work. I also tried reinstalling it through the autodesk app, and then uninstalling and reinstalling it manually. Nothing worked. I have attached images that show the errors. Please help, my project is due in a few days and I'm running behind.

Hi!

1. Try a reset of your preferences.
Rename the folder prefs in folder 2017 to something like prefs_backup, or to reset everything, the folder 2017 to 2017_backup. Maya creates new folders. Detailed at:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Reset-Maya-to-Default.html

2. Re-install or update your Graphic Card Driver.

Hi!

Your Hardware may not be sufficient to run Maya properly, please post your system specs (at least Graphic Card, Operating System).

If it worked before, you may consider a complete re-installation of Maya.

Hi!

There are 2 more thinks you might try.

1. Update Maya, for Maya 2016 there should be a Service Pack 6.

2. Just as a test set a lower resolution for your display

3. Make sure Maya uses your 3D Graphic Card

Anyway, if it worked before something on your system changed and you have to change this back or change some other things too.

It wasn't working the last time I closed it, I haven't restarted my pc (it has just been on), and I just opened Maya to try that and everything was running normally on start. I don't know what the problem was or if it will return but thank you for your efforts and for your assistance! I'm going to try to just use it and not mess anything up again; I hope I won't be back for some time, at least with the same issue. Once again thank you for your help!

Hi!

Glad it works now.

(Maybe there was a windows update breaking the functionality and a second update fixed it or anything else like an other application prevented Maya from taking full usage of the GPU. )

Hi!

Sorry, but you are the only one that can figure out what's different (system and user actions) if Maya works or not.

For example does Maya work if it's the first application started after computer re-boot.

What happened just before Maya doesn't work correct?

Is Hardware correct installed (physical)?

...

If it works sometimes and then not, there must be something changing.

Please post the result if you find out what caused the problem.
