Hi!

After setting pivot move the object to the desired position.

Read more about the following in Maya Online Help / Documentation:

Freeze Transformations

and

Bake Pivot

Hi, I am new to Maya but not 3Ds Max.
So, In Maya I create Plane. Then I move the pivot to bottom left as seen in the picture below :

So the pivot position is in Y axis minus coordinate. In 3Ds Max. since I move the pivot to minus coordinate, then the object pos will also in minus coordinate (following the pivot) But in Maya, it seem the object position doesnt refer to pivot position, it still refer to the middle point of the object.

So my question is :
What should I do, if I want to put value 0 in x, y, z coordinate, My plane can appear something like this :

Thank you for any feedback. Forgive my Idiot-ism.

@mspeer

Hi, Thank you for the feedback. I check the topic you mention. I still dont get the Bake Pivot thing. So I need to set-in 0 value in object x,y,z coordinate to get the object in the position I want, which seem un-achievable. Using mouse to move the object not make the x,y,z coordinate in 0 value. please check image below :

So. I want the object x,y,z position in 0 coordinate because the pivot is in that position..

Please let me know if what I try to do is not do-able

Hi!

1. Move the object to the desired position (use snapping for correct position at center)

2. Freeze Transformations

That should be all in this case.

Sounds like Modify > Bake Pivot is what you are looking for since it will take the current pivot position and bake that into the geometry. e.g. it zeroes out the object's pivots.

Modify > Freeze Transformations is similar but it does not modify the transform pivots and instead bakes the current scale/rotation/translation into the geometry. e.g. it zeros out the scale/rotate/translation.
