I have a problem such that I cannot import the textures into Maya either as an FBX or obj with textures from photogrammetric 3D models (done from ReMake). I have tried dragging them in (when I made then as an obj), I have tried creating a zip file for obj, textures and materials-note the materials file keeps getting the message unrecognized file type. I have tried just importing into aurasma with the texture file, dae and thumbnail, only comes up with a model that is invisible. I think the main problem is that it doesn't import into Maya with textures in the first place.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome!

I'm a little confused about your issue. Are you trying to import textures as FBXs/OBJs or are you trying to import a model that already has textures assigned to it?

Texture files aren't supposed to be fbx/obj they're supposed to be jpg/png/targa.

However if the issue is that you are importing a model with preexisting textures be sure to assign a new material to the model and then direct the file to wherever the texture is located on your computer.

Let me know if anything changes!

Please hit the Accept as Solution button if my post fully solves your issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.

Kudos are greatly appreciated. Everyone likes a thumbs up!

I have worked on the issue, so probably best to rephrase. But needless to say I am pretty confused I have produced a 3D model via photogrammetry into ReMake, edited it and exported either as an FBX or obj into Maya for animation and export into aurasma. I have tried importing as FBX or OBJ. When exporting as a DAE I have been either using the texture file from the obj or if I go into notepadd ++ for when I have created a DAE I can find the texure file there. In this case I can click on the link. If I follow the links steps as it were and I cant locate, but I can open in paint. So other than that no problem up to this point now. When I try to upload into aurasma it says "invalid file path". I have tried the solution given via the Aurasma forum. https://aurasma.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003520423-Invalid-file-path- this has not helped. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Is there an issue with how I have set it up? I hope that makes sense
