Hi!

Maya nodes have multiple inputs and outputs.

What input and outputs should be chosen when inserting a node. Even if they do this, it would work correct only for a small fraction of all nodes and even there not in all cases.

Hello,

This is already possible in 3ds max mat editor, and I would love for this to exist in maya hypershade as well. When two nodes are connected dropping a node in between their connection would insert the node (would be super helpful!)

It would work if you were dropping it into a connection that you wanted it to affect. I have an exr piping into about 20 lights. I now want to control the hue / sat etc with a colour correct node...because Maya is the way it is, I have to manually connect the exr to the colour correct, then manually connect the colour correct to all the lights. Or, Maya could allow you to make dot, or elbows like in nuke...that way I could make a dot, and then manually drop the colour correct in before that dot in the node tree. Intuitive, simple and effective, often things Maya is not.
