Error: ... xgmPreviewWarning

So... everytime I scrub through the timeline in my scene I get this error:

# Error: line 1: NameError: file <maya console> line 1: name 'xgui' is not defined #
// Error: An execution error occured in the expression xgmPreviewWarning. //

Using Maya 2017 Update 4

I've tried optimizing my scene. I've even deleted everything out of the scene, but the error is still there. I can make a new scene, but this keeps happening as I'm working and I'd really like to know why.

Hi @timdan

Thanks for posting! I believe 'xgui' is in reference to xgen. Do you have the xgen plugin loaded in your Plugin manager?

I would also recommend changing your Evaluation Mode to DG here:

And, as I am sure you have already looked at, I always recommend Resetting Preferences and checking for updated Graphics Card drivers when Maya starts acting funky 🙂

Let me know if the problem is still happening despite those suggestions. I would be happy to continue troubleshooting until we figure it out!

Do you have XGen in the scene? It seems to be trying to generate an XGen preview on each frame change.

Cheers

I do not. I've even go so far as to delete everything in my scene, but I still get the error when scrubbing. I'm not touching the xGen plugin for any reason.

Is the XGen plugin loaded? If you unload it does the error persist?

Also, check the render settings window for any xgen pre or post render mel commands that may be left over if XGen was in the scene at any point.

The old 'clear your prefs' may help as well.

cheers

I'm just checking in to see if you need more help with this. I know you said you aren't messing around with xGen but did you get a chance to see if the plug-in is loaded? Also did the suggestion to delete your prefs that @Michael_Todd provided help at all?

If so, please click Accept as Solution on the posts that helped you so others in the community can find them easily.

Just to follow up. There is, nor has there ever been, anything related to xGen in the file, and their are no post or pre-scripts loaded. Thanks for the suggestions. Still a mystery.

I've also had problems in the same scene where i had to delete my prefs folder to get it to stop error spamming me.
