Maya 2018 Arnold spotlight

I added a standard spotlight in Maya 2018 but it does not show when I render with Arnold.

I set the Arnold exposure up to 10 to make sure it was bright enough but still nothing

I guess I am missing something obvious

Any help appreciated

I can't seem to reproduce the issue on my machine. When you get a chance, can you please post a screenshot or video of your issue so I can get a better understanding of whats happening?

If you need a video capturing program, Screencast is a great option that we use here at Autodesk

Let me know if anything changes!

I've updated to 2018.1 and my spotlight has never worked. Attached is a test scene.

Update, I got the spotlight to work, I had to crank the intensity up to 1000000

Correct, it's like in real world, for a big distance you need a lot of light (Intensity is just one of multiple Attribute to control this).

I keep getting crashes every time Arnold is IPR refreshing and I turn off a layer, or turn off a light display. It a SIGABRT error or something like that.

Arnold integration could be a lot better. Having to crank up spotlights to 10,000 (which looks ridiculous in the shaded editor windows) makes it hard to work because everything is white.

Without your scene file is impossible to troubleshoot the issue, please remember that.

1) simply update Arnold

2a) Take care of scene-scale

2b) Arnold has much more Attributes to control brightness, like Exposure, Normalize(light scale),...

Please read the online help for Arnold for more details.

Interesting... my objects may be too large so I need a large amount of light? I’ll experiment with that, thanks. I was basing my scene scale around an object I bought on turbo squid, it is larger than I ordinarily would work at.

Try turning on the AiRadius too, that what worked for me at first the spotlight wouldn't render only render in the default maya render engine but once I went into the Arnold tab and messed with the AiRadius. The IPR finally rendered it!

try increase your spotlight intensity to 200++, then the light may show up, this case for me
