Trying to select Edge Loops isn't working.

I'm currently working on making a spiral handle for a weapon and when I try to loop select the edges, it only selects the one edge instead of the whole loop. The double click method works with faces and vertices, but not edges for some reason that I've yet to figure out. I also tried other solutions, such as checking if I was in Soft Selection mode, which I'm not. While I could restart and make it again rather easily, I want to fix this problem now in case I find myself in this situation again in the future. Any help would be appreciated!

This is pretty weird issue, but actually it happened to me a few times. what happened was that that edges that you were trying to loop, is somehow there were 2 edges within the same place, and the edges that we were trying to loop, somehow we clicked the wrong edge which has no loop at all, which explains why it does that.

selecting faces should work fine bcs its detected as one loop, so no problem. Probably you could recheck that double edges, idk how it happened, accidentally i suppose, but it happened to me several times.
