I'm trying to learn 3D through the Youtube Academy of Hard Knocks. I cannot seem to figure out how to assign textures to the underside of low-poly plants, like in this screenshot. I've attempted to use double-sided material networks like in this video but I'm
really struggling.

To put it simply, all I'd like to do is apply a single leaf texture to both sides of a plane but I've been really pounding my head against the wall.

I have created hypershading networks with conditions for flipped normals.

I have disabled single-sided polys in my preferences

I have enabled Double-sidedness in my Render settings

I am very much at a total loss. I am including the textures I made in the hopes of being able to make a silly, not-so-simple-anymore plant.

Hi!

1. Just apply a texture to an Arnold material that's it. It's rendered double sided by default.

2. If you want to use a double sided material just use aiTwoSided and assign the same shader to front and back as starting point

For further help please upload a scene-file (only leaf needed).

Thank you so so much! Would you by chance happen to know how to alter the transparency of the leaves? In the second photo you can see the outline of one leaf as it overlaps the other.

It would be best if you attach an archive (File > Archive Scene) so that we can see exactly how you set up the shader.

I was looking at your textures and both the diffuse and alpha textures have alpha channels in them which is probably not a good idea as they can cause unexpected results, i.e. the alpha channel of the image being used as a transparency mask for the shader.

Hi!

Would you by chance happen to know how to alter the transparency of the leaves?

By the corresponding Attributes (Transparency, Alpha, Opacity, Refraction) based on your materials and renderer.

Hey @BenBisares here's the scene attached. I changed the texture because stupid me had a black background causing the odd black square effect. However I would like some help in trying to control the transparancy and "funny" colorful shadow , if at all possible.

@mspeer I would like to know too lol
