Hi @jdrober9

We actually have an article on this issue you can find here!

Here's the solution from that article:

Solution:

There are a few possible causes of this issue:

CPU is not compatible with SSE 4.1

As of Arnold 4.2.16.2, the SSE requirement is now SSE 4.1. Here is a screencast on How to Use Coreinfo to check your CPU's SSE compatibility.

Reinstall MtoA

If MtoA used to load, but now it doesn’t, then something happened to the MtoA installation. There have been cases where DLLs were missing from the MtoA bin folder; most importantly, Arnold itself was missing (Arnold is ai.dll on Windows, or libai.so on Linux, or libai.dylib on OSX).

Close Maya, and download and install the latest version of MtoA available here: Solid Angle Downloads

Previous versions of MtoA are also available here: Solid Angle Arnold Archive

After the fresh install completes, open Maya and the Plug-in Manager:

Windows > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager and load mtoa.mll by checking the box next to "Loaded".

MtoA location is missing from Maya's PATH environment. Or is pointing to an old version of MtoA.

For example: Path

To check Maya's environment you can open the script editor and enter this MEL command: system ("set")

Here is a screencast on How to get Maya Environment Variable in the Script Editor.

Any changes made to your Maya.env file will only take effect once you restart Maya.

Maya is trying to load the wrong version of MtoA.

Check the error in your script history. That will show you what version of mtoa Maya is trying to load. If you don't see the expected version, then you should check your MAYA_MODULE_PATH and the modules\mtoa.mod file in your Maya user folder.

For example:

// Error: line 1: Unable to dynamically load : C:/solidangle/mtoadeploy/2013/mtoa-0.23.0/plug-ins/mtoa.mll

The specified module could not be found.

//

// Error: line 1: The specified module could not be found.

//

// Error: line 1: The specified module could not be found.

(mtoa)

//

Maya is trying to load the correct mtoa.dll, but the environment variables are pointing to the wrong place. Check your Maya.env file.

For example: Maya.env

MAYA_RENDER_DESC_PATH = C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2013

\mtoa-

0.22

.

0

PATH = %PATH%;C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\

2013

\mtoa-

0.22

.

0

\bin;

MAYA_RENDER_DESC_PATH = C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\

2013

\mtoa-

0.23

.

0

PATH = %PATH%;C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\

2013

\mtoa-

0.23

.

0\bin;

Notice how there are two sets of settings. Maya reads the first ones only, which is the wrong version of mtoa, and then mtoa fails to load with a "The specified module could not be found" error. Delete the first two lines and everything should work properly.

Please let me know if this helps you or if you need any more assistance!
