I have been getting an error message upon exporting FBX's in the most recent version of Maya. If I have a mesh with multiple materials assigned to it, upon exporting I get the error messasge "Warning: Unable to export some material(s)(1). The plug-in does not support the following material types: Material will be exported as a grey Lambert material.

It says this even if the type is a grey lambert, a blinn, a phong, etc. I am finding upon importing to unreal engine that there is only a single material applied. I tried checking my FBX settings, doing fresh scenes with new geometry, doing a reinstall and the problem still persists.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hi @johndiasparra

I just tried this and imported into UE4 with no issues.

You may want to try unloading/reloading the FBX plug-in.

If that doesn't work, you can try deleting your settings/preferences. Even though you performed an uninstall/reinstall, this doesn't always reset the settings and preferences.

Also, what version of Maya are you running and is it up to date?

Let me know if anything changes!

Kudos are greatly appreciated. Everyone likes a thumbs up!

Same problem here. It happens specifically when you merge meshes with different materials. The export to dae.fbx or fbx will give an error about some materials unable to be exported. Funny enough the mesh in the scene, not the export also looses these materials and turns neongreen. Thats frustrating.
