Hello, everyone.

I am confusing about the maya Xgen operating process, wish you guy can make clear for me.

firstly, if I intent to create two kinds of furs, like one is body hair, another is hair, whether I should create two collections and descriptions or create two descriptions under the same collection? and what is the different between the two way?

secondly, every time I created a fur by xgen, it gonna create a xgen file in my scene film automatically, so THE scene file become more and more chaos, and i dare not delete it. is there some way that I can organize them? like reset their path? and could you tell me a standard way and flow to use xgen?\\

Thank you

Hanwen

Hi @Anonymous

Ultimately it comes down to your preferred workflow. You could do either option but I believe having one collection would be simpler because you'd have all your descriptions in the same place so it would be easier/faster to navigate to them and make changes etc.

As for your second question. When you say an xgen file is created for your scene do you mean the collection that appears in the Outliner? If so, this happens every time you make a new collection so as long as you aren't constantly making new collections it shouldn't fill up your Maya scene.

We also have this article that gives an in depth breakdown on workflows with xGen that could help you out!

Let me know if this information helps or if you need any more assistance!

Kudos are greatly appreciated. Everyone likes a thumbs up!
