Maya 2018 Fatal error on opening one file

I've been reading a couple of posts here with fatal errors and can't find the same one. I've attached my CrashLog down below. (it seems to be pointing to OpenMaya.dll) So the problem happened while my pc suddenly blue screened, and after it restarted, it started having the fatal error on the file that Maya closed on. All other files can open just fine.

Has anyone else ran into this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi!

3 possible scenarios:

1. The file is corrupted and can't be opened anymore (data can't be restored).

You may upload the scene-file.

2. Your Maya installation is damaged and a re-installation may solve the problem.

3. Your system is damaged (GPU-drivers, ...)

I've just reinstalled Maya and the problem is still there.

I'm not sure if my original file was corrupted, since it was working fine before my pc blue screened...

As for the possibility of a damaged system, this problem seems way too broad for me to approach

Hi!

The scene opens here without Renderman plug-in in Maya 2018.2.

1. Update your Maya.

2. Update graphic card driver (maybe just re-install after an OS update).
3. Try different Viewport modes (in Preferences).

I've tried 1 and 2, for 3 it's just crashing upon opening the file so it's not really possible. It's still giving the same error 😞 I really hope I don't need to clean everything to get it to work!

it seems Maya just won't open the old scene file as is, it keeps wanting to restore the crash log. Is there any way to disable this?

What does this mean?

- Try a reset of your preferences.
Rename the folder prefs in folder 2018 to something like prefs_backup, or to reset everything, the folder 2018 to 2018_backup (or even the maya folder to maya_backup). Maya creates new folders (don't copy preferences from previous Maya versions). Detailed at:

- Disable the Renderman plug-in.

- Try Import instead of Open.

I don't think i can offer more options.

The left menu bar is what I get everytime Maya's opened. I can see the file in the outliner, but once the error pops up the whole program shuts down 😞

Tried resetting the preset folder and it's still crashing...

Ok , so the file worked once I moved it to another location, it seems the .xgen file was the problem!

It works without the old xgen file, so I might just remake an xgen collection

Hi!

You don't have to open the file at left side it's only a suggestion which you should not use in this case.

Yes, I've tried both clicking and ignoring the option at the time and Maya still crashed regardless 😞

So it seems something in the project folder was corrupted, glad you fixed it.
