Hey guys! Hope some of you enlight me about an issue I'm facing regarding to IGS. I did I quick search on the forum but Ican't find nothing specific about this.

The sim works pretty well using LinearWires but I can't make the hair interpolation looks good. Sometimes the hair looks jagged and some tips seems to stretch even if I change the magnitude scale.

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Giovanikc

Thanks for attaching the file!

It looks like an issue with your groom but it also looks similar to an issue in this thread.

The solution from that thread was:

"Ok.

First, no, a clump modifier is not needed but I think you need some more info on what the conversion actually does.

When you convert a groom to Interactive Groom Splines, it bakes out the final result to primitives. It does NOT bake out density maps or modifiers, just the pure geometry of the final result is converted.

This will likely mean that you're linear wire modifier has guides all over the surface, not just in the area where the primitives are. If you were using desnity maps in XGen, you will need to recreate them in IGS to drive the guide placements. Any Clump modifiers will also be affected by this as clumps will be generated across the whole surface.

Another factor to bear in mind with conversion is that the density masking and multiplier on the converted grooms base node will not work as the hairs are not being generated by the base node, but are the baked result of the the XGen groom.

You can however, use the converted groom as an Interpolation source for a new, empty groom that will then be able to use the density maps and multiplier.

Groom Transfer Interpolation"

Please let me know if this information helps!

Its most likely due to how the groom was done.

When you get a chance, can you possibly post a video of how you made this groom so I can see if you missed any steps?

Actually, I think the issue is down to the fact that you are using a linear wire modifier on top of sculpted hairs ON TOP of guides.

Sculpting the hairs to such an extent over the shaping of the guides is causing a disconnect. As the hairs are now so far from the guide influence, the interpolation is producing unpredictable results.

I'd recommend NOT sculpting the hairs to such an extent that the guides are no longer anywhere close to the hairs they are 'guiding'

You can either sculpt the guides directly to create the overall shape and then sculpt the hairs for fine detail, or you can groom the hairs directly to create the overall shape THEN add guides and make those dynamic. The Guide modifier also has the ability to control interpolation whereas the linear wire modifier does not, it acts purely as a deformer.
