topic Face and pivot handle selection is offset in Maya Forum

I've been having a super annoying bug where I stop being able to accurately select faces and pivot handles after a certain amount of time. Edges and vertices are okay, and I can properly select faces if I drag select, but it is far more annoying to do it that way because the drag select also selects faces on the other side. The only way I have been able to solve this before is either by waiting it out or uninstalling and reinstalling Maya, both of which are in my opinion unsustainable. I have attempted to clean the preferences, I've checked a bunch of settings both within and outside Maya, I do not know what could be causing this. Pretty sure my computer uses DirectX by default. Has anyone else encountered this problem or know how to fix it? I have not been able to find anything about this anywhere. Thank you in advance.

I am using an Intel processor, the i5-1235U, and use Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

Hi,

Integrated GPUs are a bit flakey with Maya and I find they tend to work better in DirectX mode. (instead of OpenGL)

Go into Windows > Settings/Preferences > Preferences > Display and change the Viewport 2.0 Rendering Engine to DirectX 11 and restart Maya to see if that helps.

Oh my god I was ready to send an entire reply about how it wasn't working until I realized I was thinking about this the entirely wrong way. I kept interpreting this solution as going into the Windows system settings and not the Maya window tab... that is hilarious. I cannot believe I was taking that the wrong way for so long. It works perfectly now. Thank you for your help.

Also fixed the lag I was having when the camera moved! awesome
