UVs change on smooth preview

Sometimes when I hit "3" on the keyboard to see the smoothed mesh after having unwrapped the UV's, their position and size change TOTALLY in the UV Editor and there's no way of going back with control Z. It happens EVEN if I delete all the history and freeze the transformations before hitting the smooth preview. The version of the Maya I'm using is 2018.

Do you know why it happens?

You will not be able to reproduce the bug since it happens TOTALLY randomly. It means that it's not happening to a specific object. Try playing around with the UV's and then hit smooth (it may happen).
