Geometry disappears when I hit the play button

I've noticed on both Maya 2023.3 and 2024.1 that when I open rigged model, the geometry disappears whenever I either press the play button or I drag the current frame anywhere on the timeline. This doesn't happen on anything created entirely within 2023.3 or 2024.1, only with certain files from previous versions of Maya.

Is there some kind of setting I can make active or modify so this doesn't happen?

If it's only from older files from different versions, I'd try Edit>Delete All By Type>Non-Deformer History. Also try File > Optimize Scene Size > Remove: Unknown Nodes. Maybe also start with a new scene and import the old one into the new one. Just be careful of your namespace settings on import if you want to avoid prefixes.

A little late for this reply, since I muted the topic after I figured out the problem; in the display menu, it seems I left the "P" box unchecked.
