Maya crashes constantly after updating to MacOS Mojave

Hi everyone,

since updating to MacOS 10.14 Mojave Maya 2017 constantly crashes while opening.

Do you have a solution or workarounds?

Hi @hinobayashi

As it just came out, Maya 2017 does not support Mojave and we can't guarantee you'll be able to work smoothly on it.

I'd recommend you rollback your OS update and/or wait for Maya 2019 to be released in the near future.

I'll have to reinstall my old OS than I think as I'm not on the subscription anymore.

Hi, apparently so does Maya 2018. It crashes like crazy and it's completly unusable. Apparently hands are tight here. Rollback is not an option, and neither is not using maya 🙂

Yeah, it's a shame that Autodesk doesn't seem to be willing to bring Updates because of the newest OS.
Doing a rollback is a pain in the arse but at least it's a good opportunity to get rid of old files & caches and do a clean install... 😉

We are planning to bring updates to support the newest OS as well as support with 2019 it's just unfortunate that with our schedule for building/releasing updates couldn't line up with Apples release date.

I'm writing this to let you all know we have uncovered a short-term fix:

We’ve just been looking at the forum posts about Maya crashing in macOS Mojave and just wanted to give you the heads up that Maya crashes can be avoided by dragging and dropping Maya into the application well in Accessibility > Privacy. Maya 2017-2019 beta has been very thoroughly tested on Mojave so rest assured that this should solve its issues until the developers resolve the underlying issue.

Oh Thank you so much! This solved my problem. When I first opened Maya after upgrading to Mojave the program itself suggested to do so, but I didn't know this was the solution.

do you have a Autodesk CER number or Apple Crash Report that can help isolate what is crashing ?
Apple crash reports in: ~/Library/Logs/Diagnostics or /Library/Logs/Diagnostics
