What is the best desktop computer for Maya?

I am in need of a new computer that can run Maya well. I had a macbook previously and was thinking of buying an iMac since I'm more accustomed to Apple products, however I don't know if it'll be able to handle it so well.

So my question is: would an iMac be suitable for Maya and if not what are some better alternatives?

Hi @Anonymous

The most important thing you can do is look at the specs of the iMac and compare them to certified system requirements as well as our certified hardware list.

Generally the iMac should be able to run Maya fine but you'll want to look into which version you'll want to get, like the one with the dedicated GPU, depending on what you plan to be doing with Maya. Maya can run on integrated GPUs however its generally not recommended because they aren't powerful enough to handle heavy projects while a dedicated GPU like the Radeon pros that come with some iMacs will handle them better.

I just have one more question-I'm thinking of the iMac with Radeon Pro 500 I didn't see it listed in the certified hardware list but would this still be considered as the dedicated GPU like you mentioned?
