keep in mind that there is still issues with the old render layer system (already reported somewhere here).
You will get some crashes if your maya is set up with the old render layer while importing some files.

And it's the same with update 5

I've been sending error reports, is there any possibility of someone actually looking at them to help me figure out what is wrong. I read a few other posts on the forums where someone actually looked at the error logs and helped them figure out a solution.

I am in the middle of preparing course work for a class and it literally keeps crashing maybe half a dozen times a day.

I checked the crash reports sent from the email address of your account. Looks like a few of them are associated with a the same defect that has been worked on by development. From what I see it might have been fixed with the just released update (2018.5). I'll need to confirm this but it's a good idea to install the update in any case.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

I couldn't find the download page for the update, I don't know if the website is also having issues or what. I tried the link in this post:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-forum/maya-2018-update-5-release/td-p/8434012

But was brought to a page that only offered a License Service Hotfix

When I went directly to the download section of the website it only offered a download for the help files

Currently I went so far as to fully uninstall and reinstall, but now the shelves are missing and Arnold won't load. I created another post in the forum about it. I tried running a repair and another reinstall and I'm still getting the same issue.

Are there some user files I need to delete or some kind of clean uninstall batch file I need to run or something?

No problem, my pleasure.

The updates are rolled out slowly over the globe so perhaps it hasn't "reached" you yet. If you need it right now I can PM you a link to it.

As for the shelves and Arnold missing, let me take a look at your other post and try to get back to you there just to keep the threads to one topic as much as possible.
