Hi @brurpo

This might be possible due to you having a RTX 2080ti.

I know that our developers have a few of them and have been working with them for 2019 but I wasn't sure if there were any changes with 2018 when using them.

This would explain why its not in the documentation as this may be getting updated when 2019 is released. That said I'm not 100% sure if this is the case and I would need to reach out to development about this because I haven't personally had any time to look into the new rtx cards and how they work with Maya.

Odd (good, lol) viewport behaviour

So, I've been having some problems with my personal pc, and not my work workstation.

My workstation has a m5000, and everything seems ok (besides that odd behavior of cubemaps in shaderfx forum link).

I was having similar problems at my personal PC (RTX 2080 TI) but with the default arnold shader and not just shaderfx.

Then I updated to windows 1809 and the latest nvidia drivers for it and.....

Since when do we have proper roughness mapping and area light reflections in maya?? This is not documented and couldnt find this elsewhere, nor reproduce in any workstation. Roughness map does not work, and area light specular are just like a point light in the center of it.

Not that I am complaining, but whats going on?

Im confused. The image you posted does show roughness and arealight reflections. Thats part of the latest Arnold update not maya.

No problem!

If you aren't seeing it on the other machines you may need to make sure the GPU drivers are up to date.
