Lost Manipulators

Hi! I've been trawling through help threads for a few days now with no luck. My translate, rotate and scale manipulators have disappeared on all views.

Obviously the first thing I tried was re-starting maya, then my OS, no luck there.
Then I checked the show menu, and "manipulators" is checked.
My manipulators aren't too small, either - they would still show up but regardless I sat there hammering the "+" key for a while just in case. no juice.
I've gone through the preferences a few times and not found anything, but I'm hoping I've just missed a little checkbox somewhere that someone can point me to.

I've seen some others with equally intractable manipulator issues that have fixed it with a driver update... If that's my problem I think I'm screwed because I can't find more recent drivers on the nvidia site. I've got a

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M on a mid-2012 macbook pro running Mojave (10.14.2), GPU driver version 355.11.10.50.10.103, if that means anything to anyone.

Also, for what it's worth, when I go into the channel editor and select a particular channel I still get that sort of pseudo-manipulator, so my system is clearly still capable of rendering them... Obviously, that's no way for a maya man to live. I need my plane handles. I hope someone can help!

What version of Maya are you working with and is it up to date?

Currently only 2018 is supported for Mojave so if you are on a older version of Maya or if you're 2018 is not on Update 5 that may be why you're seeing this issue.

Hi!

If it worked before, try a reset of your preferences.
Rename the folder prefs in folder 2018 to something like prefs_backup, or to reset everything, the folder 2018 to 2018_backup (or even the maya folder to maya_backup). Maya creates new folders (don't copy preferences from previous Maya versions). Detailed at:

You can also try different Viewport modes / Render engine settings.
