The funny thing is that I have the same problem and I am using a RHEL based distro.
I'm using Fedora 31 with propietary NVIDIA drivers. All the guides for installing software like Unreal Engine or any other software supposed to work on RHEL/CentOS works in Fedora, except Maya 2020. I even could install Mudbox 2020. I was wondering if you can update your install procedure like Unity3D or Adobe Substance that has an .AppImage that downloads the installer files to a local folder or you can check the new App Center based on Flatpak created by Elementary people where you can make payments with their app.

I will still look for a solution another day, and the most funny thing is that for Fedora/RHEL/CentOS solutions I always end up in Ubuntu Forums.

Cheers Debian People, you always make me smile.

Hello,

I know mint is not officialy supoprted but figured to try and get some help.

I managed to install maya 2019 on mint and most of it works fine as I can see.

But when starting I have these errors:

VP2 Error : Failed to initialize graphics device.
Error: The GPU adaptor of the transform to finalize is null
Error: Failed to apply color management settings on file open: Failed to finalize the color transform..
Error: The GPU adaptor of the transform to finalize is null
Error: Failed to finalize the color transform.
Unable to execute igInitialize.mel.Unable to execute xgen.mel.
API error detected in plugins/mtoa/extension/ExtensionsManager.cpp at line 655
: (kFailure): Unexpected Internal Failure

API error detected in plugins/mtoa/extension/ExtensionsManager.cpp at line 655
: (kFailure): Unexpected Internal Failure

Viewport2 isn't working and seems like my GPu isn't properly detected.

Also getting Error: Failed to apply color management settings on file open when launching Maya

If I create link:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1.0.0 /usr/autodesk/maya2019/lib/libGL.so

This is shown:

Initialized VP2.0 renderer {
Version : 2016.11.53.12. Feature Level 5.
Adapter : GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
Vendor ID: 4318. Device ID :
Driver : 4.6.0 NVIDIA 390.77.
API : OpenGL V.4.6.
Max texture size : 16384 * 16384.
Max tex coords : 32
Shader versions supported (Vertex: 5, Geometry: 5, Pixel 5).
Shader compiler profile : (Best card profile)
Active stereo support available : 0
GPU Memory Limit : 11264 MB.
CPU Memory Limit: 30483 MB.
/usr/autodesk/maya2019/bin/maya.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/autodesk/maya2019/bin/../lib/libOGSDeviceOGL4-16.so: undefined symbol: EVP_CIPHER_CTX_init

But maya won't start at all then.

Any ideas or help please?

Thank you

Believe it’s the same issue as

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1072232/i-cant-run-maya-2017-on-ubuntu-18-04-1-undefined-symbol-evp-cipher-ctx-init?noredirect=1&lq=1

Different linux distros have different versioning of libssl and libcrypto

Maya is built on RHEL/CentOS so has their expected dependencies

its the easy route if doable. in general there should be workarounds to enable Maya to run on Ubuntu, Mint, ...

in the installation there are python modules for ubuntu to work around the versioning difference of libssl/libcrypto there are readme

/usr/autodesk/maya2019/support/python/2.7.11 $ ls

README_ubuntu_hashlib.txt README_ubuntu_ssl.txt ubuntu_hashlib.so ubuntu_ssl.so
