Setting custom fps?

Hi,

I'm trying to output a file (fbx) with an animation at 36 fps. However, 36 fps is not one of the presets. How do I add a custom fps preset?

Hi @J-Fry

If you go to Windows->Settings/Prefs->Time Slider->Playback->Playback Speed you can set this to Other and then type in a manual value like 36fps.

But that's not exactly what I want.

That doesn't change the scene framerate, only the playback speed. (Also that messes with the nParticles in the scene which need the playback speed to be set to "play every frame" in order to behave correctly). So the resulting exported FBX still has a 24fps for its framerate instead of 36fps.

Essentially, what I need to do is to change the Windows->Settings/prefs->Settings->Working Units->Time

to "36 fps" instead of "24 fps"

But 36 is not on that dropdown, and there is no "other" option there. The closest ones are 30 fps and 40 fps.

I assume there is some preferences file or config file I need to edit to add in a custom preset to that dropdown? Does anybody know if that is possible? If so, does anybody know what file that is, where it is, and how exactly to format the edit to get 36 fps to show up on that dropdown? I could probably figure out the rest if somebody can just point me to the file. Thanks!

Ah ok I don't believe that functionality is available in native Maya.

You would most likely need a custom script/plug-in to change the fps to that type of rate.
