Maya 2016 crashes when opening my ASCII file

Whenever I try to open my ASCII file Maya crashes. I have tried all the basic steps for crashing on the Autodesk forums, I have also done a clean install, tried running as admin, tried changing to os native. All of that I have done and to no avail. This has not been an issue in the last couple of weeks that I have been working on this project. Someone, please help me.

Hi!

The provided file is a Maya 2018 scene, so use Maya 2018 or Maya 2019 for this scene.

If you want to use a scene with a previous Maya version export to a format like FBX (choose an older version for export).

Is there a student version of Maya 18 or 19 I can get? This is a student project for school and when I went through the school I ended up with 16
