well back here again. So I managed to get the lugs to duplicate using MASH. Pretty happy with the use of the MASH Network. Next question I have is the following:

1. After duplicating my MASH shapes is there a way to rotate specific parts of the MASH Network individually without converting the MASH network to geometry? if you look at the attached image, majority of the lugs face the same direction, as drawn in shape one. Then, some of them rotate clockwise and other counterclockwise like shape number 2. is there a node that can be used to tell MASH to only rotate the specific lugs I want with a falloff radius.

i know this seems very convoluted but I would like to have the option to replace the lugs is the design changes.

Also, as you can see from the drawing, the lugs change in size and design. Can I create a single mash network to control all these parameters? Any light that can be shed on this matter would be a huge help. Attaching my scene just in case someone want to look at where I am at. Thank you.

Hello my wonderfully smart people. Here for knowledge again. I am trying to see if anyone has tried to model geometry pattern using the MASH network in maya? Trying to create an outsole pattern, that is scalable, like the image attached. I have seen some videos of people doing procedural modeling with Mash and I am looking for guidance on how to even start this. If you look at the design the lugs go from big to small with a wide to tight spread. I know this might be achievable in Grasshopper but in not familiar with it, but I do know Maya. Any insight on this would be amazing and it would really help out in this project. Thanks in advance hopefully someone can shed some light on this matter. Thank's everyone.

Thanks for posting! 🙂 You mentioned watching some videos, would you mind sharing those links specifically? If theres a project that you are trying to emulate it would be awesome to have that reference in addition to the image you shared.

Hey Jordan,

Thank you for the reply. These are the videos that I have looked at so far:

https://youtu.be/k9PKapbY6SI

https://youtu.be/59zC7vsMG0U

https://youtu.be/CbxE5AUh1IM

https://youtu.be/K-Vw_YA3dTE

https://youtu.be/CysqH3gw9TI

The idea is like I previously mentioned. I want to replicate the lug design I attached at the bottom of an outsole using MASH so that it is non destructive. Just in case I want to change the lug pattern and count I wont have to remodel and replace the lugs.

Thanks for sharing those links 🙂 I think this one looks most promising for what you are trying to achieve - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-Vw_YA3dTE&feature=youtu.be

Do you have an in-progress scene that you can share? I would love to see how you've started this project and offer advice for next steps 🙂 To attach a scene file to a post, you will have to compress it into a .zip file.
