Maya not opening on MacOS

Hi everyone,

I tried to launch Maya today but no luck. It's only bouncing in the task bar and then closing. I am on a student license, which is brand new and shouldn't have any problems attached to it. I have tried:

- Updating MacOS (I am now using Big Sur version 11.2.3)

- Clean deletion and then reinstall of Maya (I have tried versions 2020 and 2022, making sure to delete the versions before). I have Maya 2020 installed currently. There were no errors when installing.

- Restarting

No errors pop up-- it's like I never even clicked on it in the first place. I have also tried to open some .ma files, and they recognize Maya (it starts jumping in the task bar) but still won't open it. Any help?

If you could provide a bit more details, and possible log files. (check log files for identifying ID, serial number, ... to remove them before posting)

What Mac machine are you running on ? graphic card.
if you launch Maya from a terminal session what if any output is displayed to the terminal
launch a terminal:
/Applications/Utilities/Terminal

from the Terminal launch Maya with command:

/Applications/Autodesk/maya2022/Maya.app/Contents/MacOS/Maya

are there any messages to the terminal that would give indication of what is happening.

there will be log files written to your "$TMPDIR" (temporary directory)
open another Terminal window and check to see what files have recently been created/updated.
cd $TMPDIR
the names may be similar to:

MayaCLM-05-04-2021.log

AdlSdk-Maya 2022-11312.log

any reason given in the log files

one can also use Apple's Activity Monitor to "Sample" the Maya process to see what code its currently running. may give indication of what area to explore

Hi! I actually figured this out. Apparently during my uninstallation, I
didn’t go into the receipts folder and delete all the autodesk.com,
Autodesk.com, alias.com files. That folder was hidden for me so I had no
idea they were there. Once I deleted everything, I did a fresh install of
Maya 2022 and it works fine now. Thanks!

i installed maya 2022 on macbook air (big sur m1)

it is not opening

Found this as what looks to be the source of the problem. If (as of 03/2024) you are running anything newer than OS 13, you will be having issues with the licensing tool. Your install of Maya may work for a short time and then not start. This could be why. Simply put, you are too new for Autodesk to keep up. One SOLID reason not to upgrade to the newest versions of OSX which are often tied to security updates and nothing more. So its a choice between a "secure" mac or your software running mostly well. I guess...

You can download and run this License Management Tool "Fixer" to get a temp fix but Ive lost track of how many times ive had to reinstall this to make it work again and then something I am doing or not doing between startups causes a failure in the licensing forcing me to run this yet again like so many others seem to be doing too.

I'm having the same issue in MAYA version 2025...in my mac ( M1 2020 sonoma 14.5 )...Please suggest some solution as soon as possible...
