Crashes in Maya have been very rare for me in the last 5 years, however Maya 2022 is a disaster. When opening scenes or closing Maya it crashes maybe half the time. I have a lot of big scenes which use references but this shouldn't be a problem. Its likely Maya 2022 being buggy and nothing wrong with the scenes themselves because they never crashed in 2020.4. Resetting user prefs has not helped.

Has anyone else experienced way more crashing issues with 2022? I guess there is nothing to do except wait several months for 2022.1 😕

Do you have any more details on the actual crash. Is there a CER number that can be looked up

is there a workflow to reproduce the issue

what platform on you on .

any output to the terminal

On Windows one can launch Maya with the command line option -log FileName which will echo the stdout/stderr to the named file (provide a path to a writable file)
before running Maya (from command line) one can set environment variable to save the script editor output to a file

can provide additional info on what is happening. use different name from the -log command. then launch Maya from that CMD window.

set MAYA_CMD_FILE_OUTPUT=PathToWriteableFile

in this case the redshift4maya plugin has a callback being invoked from loading of file references. I don't have symbols for the redshift4maya plugin, what is being done there I can't see.

Hi there,

For the case where reopening a saved file crashes Maya 2022, we have a known issue MAYA-114824 that happens if a light (or other node) is parented under a camera. Is that the case with the scenes that crash on your side? Also, this issue only affected 2022.3, so it should not happen in 2022.2 for example.

The issue has since been fixed and the fix will be part of the next release.

Cheers,
