Hi.

I have been trying to make objects float in Bifrost with no success. Is it possible to make objects float in Bifrost?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

If you enable Bifrost Meshing, you can apply a geometry constraint between the object you want to float and the Bifrost mesh. You can adjust how deep the object sits in the water by adjusting its pivot.

Also, note that by using this method, you can keyframe the object if you want it to move across the water (like a boat) and it will "stick" to the water as it moves.

@pshwayka is right. If you mesh your sim and add a mesh and click Fluids > Add Dynamic Locator > Dynamic Boat, a locator will be created to which you can attach your object. The locator will have attributes that can make the object move in a more realistic fashion.

Nice! It never occured to me to use the Dynamic Boat locater. As a former boss of mine used to say, "Beat sh$# with science!"

Hi.

Testing maya 2017.

Do I need to cache the Bifrost meshing before adding locator. and. do i have to shift Select Object and mesh and add

locator. I get the error..

// Warning: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2017/scripts/others/getCurrentOceanOrPond.mel line 54: There are currently no ocean shaders or ponds in this scene //

It should be a better way adding a dynamic moving Object With Bifrost than this ?

Realflow is much more easier, but we wonna try out this Bifrost.

The option should be in Bifrost menu.

Any tip I would be gratefull.

I have the following problem with BOSS and Dynamic Locators:

Static Locators seem top work as expected. I get nice movement on the Surface. But when I check "Free Transform" the Locator and parented Objects don't update their Position.

It's weird, because I can see the yPos, and two of the rotational values updating on the Locator.

Is it a Bug? I need to move a boat over a BOSS Surface. Is there any other workflow doing that?

Best

Stefan
