This is going to sound like a very dumb question but I've tried to make the clouds move in the attribute editor and setting the keys for them but they aren't moving at all once I hit the play button. I've googled for help but nothing relates to it. Would appreciate any possible help!

Hi!

Your object has the same values for both keys at frame 1 and at frame 50, so there will be no movement of course.

You need to move your object and then set a new key or change values of an existing key.

Hi,

Yes. But what I did was set a different value at frame one before setting key at it. After that, I move to frame fifty adn change a different value and then key it. It keys my latest frame 50 value and hence, that is what being shown. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi!

Just test this.

1. Go to frame 50

2. Change values (move object)

3. Set key

What happens if you now play back starting at frame 1.

Hi,

I'm sorry I should have been clearer in my explanation. Yes, I do see the whole 3d fluid container itself moving. What I meant by moving was making the clouds inside the container move, not the whole fluid container itself. I refer to fluidshape1 >Textures> Texture time and/or TextureOriginX/Y/Z in the attribute editor and that is how I wish to move and animate the clouds.

I tried to do what you said (moving the whole fluid container ) together with making use of the Texture time/Origin values changing but it still does not work.

Attached is a video of what I attempted to do.

Sorry for the confusion!

Hi!

You can set a key for (almost) every Attribute you wish to animate.

Just set the key to the correct Attribute (right mouse click).

Please read the Maya Online Help / Documentation for more details about how to set keys.

Hi!

Thanks for your help! I realised my mistake as I did not right click and select set key option. I had only selected the object and keyed it by just pressing 's' even if I changed the values. Appreciate your help.

Thank you very much 🙂

Hi!

Keep in mind that the hotkey "s" only keys the currently selected node and only Attributes marked to do so.

So if you want to use the hotkey you

1. Need to select the correct node

2. Make the Attributes you want to use Keyable.

Please mark every answer that solves your problem (or gives the correct answer) as solution, so others interested in this thread will get a better overview.
