Hello!
I'm working on a scene were a car drives on a dirty road, which creates a lot of smoke/dirt. I did it with maya fluids pretty fast, but here's my problem : When I render, without the fluid the render takes 18 seconds. But when I add the smoke, the render takes like 10 minutes, maybe more I'm not sure.

Edit : There's just a nparticles solver attached to a 3D container which is emitting the smoke/dirt. I have a solver quality of 40, I turned the self shadows off and the resolution is 20.

Do you guys know how can I reduce the rendering time with arnold?

Thanks a lot !

Hi!

You provided only information about the simulation, but not about rendering (except for the render time).

- Renderer used?

- Render Settings?

- Volume render resolution (rendering step size)?

In general, to reduce render time, reduce quality / resolution.

The render time needed for volume shaders are usually higher than for surface shaders, that's normal.

(BTW, attribute Lighting -> Self Shadow will not be used by every Renderer)

Hello,

I mentionned it in the originial post, I'm using Arnold !
For now the render setting are set to : 2-2-2-0-0-0

The step size for Arnold is 0.1

Thanks !

Hi!

That's strange.

Do use Textures with your fluid? This can increase render time drastically, especially for high resolution renderings.

Please upload a scene-file for further help.
