Hi @sean.heasley,

Thanks for the reply!

The deformation I'm referring to is at the character's right shoulder and left hip. The figure should be symmetrical.

I have tried creating the rig in MotionBuilder instead and it does seem to work properly, but I use a script in Maya to define the HumanIK skeleton and would like to avoid having to do it manually for each character.

Does MotionBuilder have scripting capabilities?

When I define a HumanIK inside Maya and then send it to MotionBuilder, or FBX export and then open it in MotionBuilder it says my definition is invalid and seems to rotate some of the joints or something. See the screenshots.

If I use MEL commands to define the roll joints manually to 41, 43, 45, 46, 47, and 48 then send it over to MotionBuilder it doesn't say the definition is invalid, but it still does the same weird deformation or joint rotations shown in screenshot 2.

Anyone know what's going on?

Hi @LayLo3D

Is the deformation you're talking about on the stomach?

That's the only area I'm noticing in your second screenshot that looks a little off compared to the first.

It's also possible this may be related to a known issue with Motion Builder with multiple joints not being allowed to be defined as inline rolls.

Have you tried removing the rig you have in Maya and just exporting the model to Motion Builder and make the rig there? Do the same errors occur?

Hi @sean.heasley,

I figured out that the deformations are being caused by set driven keys I have set up in Maya. I have set driven keys set up to apply blendshapes when joints are rotated to clean up the joint deformations. Not sure why they're not working properly in MB though, and why some of them are being "turned on" for no reason. Do you have any ideas?

Does MB have something similar to set driven keys? If so, how do I set them up using python?

Thanks in advance!

Also, have you tried using the send control rig to MB feature in Maya? This might get around this issue as well.

I've tried those and they produce the same results.

Ahh my bad!

I did some more digging and found this link via a forum post as well that has scripts to import driven keys so maybe this will work for you!

Here's the thread where I found the website!

Please let me know how this goes for you!
