Hi!

I am not sure if this is a bug, cause i am not sure at what step the deformations occurs for you or what you did before.

For example:

If you make a key for translation at a start position and then a key at an end position, then

when using Stepped Preview the object will not move until you reach the end position.

Only in-between set keys for other Attributes will be evaluated when reaching the corresponding position.

In the end it means your animation is not longer in sync, except if you have only keys for all Attributes at the same time positions.

This can lead to deformations, cause some values will update and others not.

So, I have been keying out this scene with the Ray Rig, and it seems that when ever i move a certain body part, the mesh will just bulge out all of the sudden. Here is an image(s) of what i mean: The neck is bulging

I mean, it's not like I am twisting the character in extreme ways or anything. It just keeps popping out, and sometimes i can fix it, if i move the body part being affected just a smidge, then it will just snap back to the correct form. However in this example that i showed, no matter how i move the head or shoulders, or any part of the body near the neck, it wont snap back. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you for any help.

This is on Windows 10, Maya 2018 Here is the rig itself, Ray Rig

are you in stepped preview mode? When you right click on the time line is the stepped preview checked?

Try unchecking it. Its ussually just a visual bug that has to do with
having stepped preview on. Ive experiences this and i work around by
selecting stepped preview keying whatever i need to and them turned off
stepped once again to modify or edit the keys

That fixed it. Is there any explanation or idea on how to maybe fix that, or is that just like one of those things that I am gonna have to live with.

Anyway THANKS so much for the help.

I don't know the details of why and how it works. I usually just work around it and for me it hasn't been a big deal. If I want to use stepped preview so I can make an inbetween pose, for example, and what to start with the first key position, I enable stepped preview, select all of the controllers, key them, and then disable the stepped preview to edit them.

You could just disable stepped preview whenever you see the bug, animate your key, and then go back to stepped preview knowing that although it looks really weird, once you disable stepped at the end it will all make sense. I don't know if what I'm saying makes any sense at all lmao.
