Fusion 360 - CAM not generating entire paths

Hey all,

I'm generating my cutting paths, and I'm working on a large area. I select the geometry, it runs for about 10 minutes, everything is outlined right, and then it stops. When i go back to simulate the cut, I get a very small area that has the cut, and then it ends. I don't have any errors on the step tho..

Is this a bug?

How should we know?
I mean sharing the part or making some screenshots at least is what is needed for judging something like that.

Switched up bits, and looked at it again.. And now it shows the piece that is to be carved, but missed the rest of the cut.

Well I'm trying to look at it, but on the current version there's no Pocket17, and when I try to edit Pocket16 (toolpath looks just like 17 in your screenshots) Fusion 360 freezes up. :-X

You can try generating your own Pocket 17. I know it's not working on my side.. I may have deleted it to be honest, and recreated it again. So far it's always ended up the same. I think 15/16 and 17 were all the same, but different bits.

Maybe there is a setting i'm missing.

I actually created a new setup to see if starting clean helps, but something about the file makes selections take forever. I see you have a fairly intricate sketch hidden (obviously the geometry the cutouts are derived from) so that may be hindering things a bit.

Also intermittently working on insulation in our bedroom ceiling, so trying things is sporadic at the moment.

Fusion 360 is now eating 4 gigs of RAM. 😮

Edit: jumped to over 4.5 gigs.

Well I got the same issue with 2D Pocket. Don't know what's going on here, but I suspect there's a model issue (even though it was natively created in Fusion, as I can see by the history tree).

I've also had the same problem with memory.. even with 32GB Ram on this, it's got a horrible slowdown on it. Right now i'm just kind of leaving that be while I wait for an update from someone. I think everyone that is also worth their salt is down at autodesk university this week... I may be waiting a rather long time before I hear back from someone.

I pinged @Curt_Chan on twitter and told him about it.. he said shoot a message to cam support. I guess we'll see what happens from there. In the mean time, i'm refining my tools and cuts, adding engraves and penciling to make sure that it's looking right.

I had better luck with 3D Adaptive Clearing FWIW, using the 1/8" flat end mill. Still took a while but nothing compared to the geometry lags that the pocket operation had. Likely not a great finish though, of course.

What settings are you using for 3d adaptive. I tried to select that, and it won't select the whole path, it only allows me to select the sides of the cut, instead of the whole surface to be cut.
