What have you created or put together yourself so far?

Do you have a sample Assembly file you can share with the forum?

I can see you're relatively new here (post-count-wise), so what is your experience with iLogic/the Inventor API?

The reason for the questions is simply to gauge the level of effort you have put in and what detail the wider forum members can delve into without your head exploding due to information overload.

Cheers,

Alex.

Hi peeps

another post regarding some automation for assemblies

have a BASE model within my vault and once the assembly has been copied designed

like to have options within the model by using ilogic or vb or iassembly

so i can select the different configurations then save it drawing which has been created already with

the update information has selected

🙂

Hi Alex

Example is attached

Yeah am quite new to the forum but have some experience with VB and c++ just not done it for a few years now hahha

Haven’t put any code together yet just wanted to throw the question out there to see if anyone has done something close and came up with a solution

The example is using iassembly, which has limitations on updating the drawing

Was thinking about putting the parts within folders or a folder and then select the folders or folder with the part/s, which I like to make reference then force an update on the drawing

So thinking off the top of my head I would have iLogic check whether there exists (in the same path) a drawing file with the same name as the activedocument:

Dim filename As String = System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(ThisDoc.FullFileName) & ".dwg"
If System.IO.File.Exists(filename) then
Dim oAsmDrawingDoc As DrawingDocument = ThisApplication.Documents.Open(filename, True)
end if

does that help?
