topic Rename Multi-body Parts with Multiple Part Instances in Inventor Programming Forum

I have a series of assemblies I am exporting from Rhino (.3dm) to finish in Inventor. When opening the .3dm file it come into Inventor as a multi-body part. The name assigned in Rhino comes in and I am trying to figure out a faster way of renaming the parts when I make the components into an assembly. On top of this, I have multiple instances of the same part in the assembly.

I am hoping there is an easy iLogic solution to get around some of these issues I am running into.

1. Since the name from Rhino already exists, I cannot rename the body. I believe I would need to add a prefix/suffix character to the imported solid then when I rename the solid body there wont be conflict.

I.E-

2. The second issue with this is that there are multiple instances of the same part, which brings another naming conflict. I believe I would need to add an instance number.

3. If i need to add an instance number to the name, would there be a way to get rid of the suffix in the part number when converted to an assembly?

I have found a few similar solutions on other post but they do not seem to work. I am sorry I don't know illogic very well. I feel like there is a simple solution to solve this.
